Abstract
This study investigates the ecological rejuvenation of polluted waterbodies using Cownomics® technology, a novel in-situ, zero-chemical, first-of-its-kind, Vaidic-science-based treatment. The central hypothesis is that restoring native microbiota can rebuild ecosystems without mechanical dredging or chemical inputs, significantly improving water quality, decomposing bottom deposits of sludge to recreate soil capillary links and substantially enhancing air quality, all of which are natural ecosystem services that benefit waterbodies and their respective vicinities. Unlike conventional approaches, Cownomics® stimulates ecological self-healing by deploying a customized herbal concentrate tailored to site-specific conditions. Case studies from Moradabad, Varanasi and Patiala, among others, show sizeable reductions in BOD, COD, TDS, TSS, phosphates and ammonia, alongside significant improvements in dissolved oxygen and biodiversity. Notably, settled sludge undergoes biodegradation, converting stagnant ponds into blue carbon sinks. The treatment also reduced particulate matter and ambient ammonia in the air. It reopened soil capillaries, contributing to both drought resilience and flood and waterlogging mitigation. These results affirm that Cownomics® enables complete ecosystem restoration through indigenous science, offering scalable, cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to infrastructure-heavy methods.
