Abstract

The study was carried out with the objective of assessing the ambient air quality in Tien Giang province in 2022. Compared with the national technical regulation on ambient air quality (QCVN 05:2013/BTNMT), the value of the component pollution parameters (TSP, CO, NO2, SO2) are all within the allowable limits. In particular, in Tien Giang province, O3 was not detected. From the average value at 34 monitoring locations, cluster analysis has grouped 10 clusters of locations with similar air quality (Euclid=1.5). At the same time, 5 monitoring periods are also grouped into 3 clusters. The mean difference between TSP, CO, NO2 and SO2 parameters was also recorded by one-way ANOVA analysis. Pearson correlation showed that TSP and PM10 parameters have weak and moderate correlation with CO, NO2 and SO2 parameters. Meanwhile, a strong correlation was noted between TSP and PM10 as well as CO, NO2 and SO2. Remarkably, the results of principal component analysis recorded a positive contribution of CO, NO2 and SO2 parameters in PC1, while TSP and PM10 significantly contributed to PC2. These considered two sources of pollution are related to industrial activities and traffic activities.
